Survey Response
Thank you to everyone who took the time to fill out the survey. This is a great way for me to find out how the site works for you because at the end of day the site is here to help you guys. I wanted the chance to reply to some of the comments and to let you know that I have taken on board what you have said.
Layout
I am really glad to find that overall the new layout has made it easier for people to navigate the site and introduced you to some of the other services DF has to offer. I am not planning to change the layout yet as I wish to concentrate on some other parts of the site, however, rest assured I will take your suggestions into account for the next new look.
With this survey and the previous one I did recieve comments regarding the aesthetics of the layout. Everyone has their own preferences regarding colours and graphics and I will never be able to please everyone so for that reason I don't try. So I'm sorry to those who dislike the colour blue or have said that previous layout have been too girlie. I would rather concentrate on making this site useful than pretty. That being said do let me know if the text is hard to read, something doesn't work or it triggers migraines/other health problems.
Updates
The most popular choices for what updates to recieve were:
1) A Monthly update for Featured RPGs
2) When a new RPG is added
3) When a new Review is available to read
4) Updates to the RPG Advertising Links
The most popular methods of how to recieve these updates were as follows:
1) Facebook
2) An automated mailing list
3) Through the directory emailing system (current method this means all will be emailed)
4) The current twitter account
The automated mailing list was quite popular so I will be creating that shortly and will be using that to post all updates. I will use facebook and twitter to update you regarding Featured RPGs, RPG reviews and any other updates. I'll also continue to send out the monthly Featured RPGs update via the current emailing system. The reason for these choices is not everyone uses facebook and twitter and not everyone will want their email account spammed everytime a new RPG has been added to the directory. So this I consider to be the fairest way to appease everyone.
Featured RPGs
Thank you to everyone who gave suggestions for future Featured RPG competitions. The reason I asked this question was because my ideas weren't necessarily what you guys wanted, so I realised the best thing to do would be to ask you. I will be thinking on these and you'll see something different for January! December is going to be random links (something that seemed very popular as well) as it's a busy month for everyone.
Other Bits & Pieces
I wanted to take a moment to address a few other things brought up during the survey. You have no idea how awesome it is to hear that you guys love the site and find it so useful, so thank you for your support. Some suggestions for the Featured RPG competitions did include people referring to what other sites have done. I have always wanted DF to be unique and also I feel that there are so many great RPG forums out there that do a brilliant job at what they do. That's the main reason I haven't added a forum to the site because there are awesome people already out there for you - and they can do a much better job that I can at it!
I have mentioned in the past that I have considered taking on staff to help me with parts of the site. These positions would be trouble checking (checking links in the directories are linking back, active etc.) and perhaps some people to help me update the Picture Gallery regularly. If anyone is interested in this please contact me.
